Someone much wiser than I who had way more experience than I in the marketing field had told me some quick tips which is what I would like to share with you.

  1. Be Specific in Goals
  2. Put a date
  3. Tell People about it
  4. Align every decision behind the first 3

These I could argue are some of the most important things to do when thinking or even putting into action a life pursuit for oneself. First we look at being specific in goals, because they really define what your product or service is about. Just like dating you want to know what the intentions of the other person are as to not waste each others time, or even as a start up you may only have 1 or 2 services to provide such as cutting grass or trimming hedges. Only 2 services but as you build you can expand your services and offer more avenues for a variety of customers.

Put a date, which can really give you the timestamp for you to get your ass moving and keep you accountable. It is really hard at first when you are the boss to set your own timelines. If they are not met for some reason, you have nobody to blame other than yourself. Set a date and treat it as you need to turn in a final paper, or finish a power point to present to your boss. Work all night if you have to but make that fucking deadline, I don’t care if you’re tired.

Telling people of your ideas really is an emotional fortitude to get others excited about what you may tend to create. Whether it be merchandise or even a service that your friends and family might want to try, or wear, or smoke, Whatever!!! Telling the world as well creates the incentive “oh shit I told everyone I was going to do this, now if I don’t they will know I failed.” Yes ladies and gentleman this is a good thing to keep yourself accountable as well get others excited about what you’re doing.

Finally do whatever is necessary in order to make this a reality. This is your pursuit and your happiness you are working on. I have missed, weddings, birthdays, nights out drinking, said no to long term relationships with amazing women because a part of me has been dying inside and every decision that I make in order to push towards my pursuits is where I can help those reading this with theirs. Actions speak louder than words, so put into actions not only in your product or service but into your daily lives in order to set your self up for success. Drinking and partying will not get you there unless that is your business model, so align your decisions in order to make this transition easier on you. What will be hard is doing it every day after motivation has turned off and you realize the real work begins.
